24. Bradley Manning

a 23 year old Army intelligence analyst, who faces the death penalty or life in prison for allegedly sharing a video of a US helicopter attack that killed eleven civilians and wounded two chidren in Iraq.  The US army covered up the evidence and declared the war crime “justified”.  Now they claim that exposing the massacre is criminal.  He also shared documentation of similar events in Afghanistan, the Iraq War Logs, the Guantanamo files, diplomatic cables exposing US foreign policy and more, making him responsible for the greatest leaks of classified material EVER.

Bradley suffered solitary confinement for 23 hours a day in a small cell for 11months and is still waiting for trial.  Julian Assange (see no.17)  from Wikileaks, freely published the leaked files, shocking the world.  Included was the damning "collateral murder” footage.  Bradley hoped the material would lead to "worldwide discussion, debates, and reforms".
